The National Water Company has announced the completion of two big water network initiatives in the Al‑Mahdiyah district of Riyadh. In these efforts, it can be seen that NWC’s commitment is to upgrading water distribution infrastructure and supporting Riyadh’s rapid urban expansion. The combined investment in these two networks exceeded 76 million Saudi Riyals, and they now serve more than 30,000 residents in the area.

Every step of the implementation focused on improving network coverage. More than 264 kilometres of pipelines were installed, significantly increasing the capacity and reach of water services in Al‑Mahdiyah. NWC highlighted in the statement that these networks not only increase operational reliability but also improve customer satisfaction through better access to potable water.

According to NWC, these projects were delivered by its strategic plans. The company emphasizes its commitment to delivering projects on time and to the highest quality standards. This milestone is portrayed as part of a broader drive to meet growing demand in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s urban development strategies.

Two Major Supply Lines in Diriyah Completed for SAR 140 Million

In a separate but equally important operation, NWC also finalised two large‑scale water supply schemes in the Diriyah Governorate, just west of central Riyadh. These installations reached over 26 kilometres of pipelines and were executed with a budget surpassing 140 million Saudi Riyals.

The newly installed lines now supply water to Diriyah and its connected districts, including Hittin, Al-Nakheel, and Al-Khuzama. In addition, they support the Diriyah Gate development, a flagship urban regeneration project. Together, these two pipelines increase the available water supply by approximately 146,000 cubic metres per day, enhancing both the network’s capacity and operational efficiency.

NWC described these deliverables as consistent with its strategic ambition to upgrade Riyadh’s water and environmental service infrastructure. These projects aim to provide water security, distribute services more efficiently, and uphold the standards outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.

Bridging Growing Demand and Urban Expansion

Rapid population growth and development in Riyadh have placed steadily increasing pressure on the demand for clean water. NWC recognises that expanding the service footprint is essential to meet this escalating demand.

The Al‑Mahdiyah network projects extend access to underserved communities, while the Diriyah pipelines reinforce supply in newly developed or redeveloped precincts. In both cases, NWC is strengthening operational capacity, ensuring that water flows reliably even as city boundaries evolve.

Moreover, NWC asserts that these efforts are aligned with national goals to provide water services that are efficient, sustainable, and resilient. Each new rollout reflects the company’s larger mandate to stabilize supply and support Riyadh’s transformation into a modern urban landscape.

Quality Performance in Line with Strategic Timelines

NWC emphasises that these project completions adhered to previously defined schedules. The company has framed its delivery process as part of a disciplined, strategic plan to modernise infrastructure across Riyadh.

In both districts, the installations, from pipeline laying to integration with existing reservoirs, were carried out methodically to minimise disruption and maximise performance. NWC notes that these projects align with standards focused on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Impact on Beneficiaries and Broader Urban Projects

Together, these four initiatives, two in Al-Mahdiyah and two in Diriyah, serve over 30,000 residents directly, while boosting capacity across neighboring areas. The Diriyah pipelines, in particular, play a crucial role in supporting the development of Diriyah Gate, a central cultural and tourism hub under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Residents in Al‑Mahdiyah benefit from network expansion that improves access and reliability. By integrating new distribution lines, NWC ensures that water services reach growing communities in rapidly developing areas.

Looking Ahead: Continued Infrastructure Build‑Out

These two completed projects form part of a larger list of ongoing undertakings under NWC’s broader regional programme. In recent years, the company has implemented dozens of water and sanitation projects across Riyadh, including pipelines, reservoirs, and pumping facilities.

NWC will follow its strategic mission: reinforcing water and environmental services across the Kingdom. It remains committed to executing projects according to schedule, elevating service quality, and meeting the demands of an increasingly urban population.

The recent completion of two water network projects in Al‑Mahdiyah and two major supply pipelines in Diriyah marks another significant milestone for the National Water Company. With over SAR 216 million invested and hundreds of kilometres of new infrastructure in place, NWC has strengthened water access for tens of thousands of residents in Riyadh. By aligning delivery with high standards and strategic timelines, the company upholds its mission of ensuring water security and service excellence in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

As Riyadh continues to expand its projects, underscored by NWC’s role in delivering essential infrastructure reliably and sustainably. Each network improvement not only boosts capacity today, but also lays the groundwork for tomorrow’s urban growth.
