DIFC Zabeel District starts a new era as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launches its AED100 billion expansion. This move boosts Dubai’s position as a top finance hub in the Middle East.
Official Launch
Sheikh Mohammed, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, unveils DIFC Zabeel District on Tuesday in Zabeel, right next to DIFC’s Gate District. A special ceremony marks the event, with a bridge connecting the new site to existing areas. The theme “Tomorrow Begins Here” shows DIFC’s growth since 2004. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed join top officials there.
Vast Expansion
The project covers 7.1 million square feet of land and 17.7 million square feet of total floor space. Its value tops AED100 billion, or $27.2 billion. DIFC Zabeel District will double the centre’s size to hold over 42,000 companies and 125,000 workers. Builders plan six phases, starting with public access in 2030 and full completion by 2040. Roads and Transport Authority upgrades ensure easy links to key spots.
Tech and Innovation Drive
Over 1 million square feet go to the world’s biggest innovation hub and first AI Campus. This space serves 6,000 businesses and 30,000 tech experts. A Gaming and Immersive Technologies Hub pushes Dubai into next-gen gaming and digital content. DIFC Academy grows ten times to 370,000 square feet, training 50,000 students each year. It draws top universities from the QS top 25 list under the Education 33 plan.
Lifestyle and Business Mix
The district mixes offices, homes, hotels, a conference centre, and high-end shops around a main boulevard. Green spaces and biodiversity fill open areas to support health and social ties. An art pavilion adds culture, with spots for major artworks. Sustainable designs and wellness paths create a connected community. DIFC CEO Arif Amiri says it pulls global talent and fits Dubai’s goal to rank among the top four finance centres.
Sheikh Mohammed praises the project as a finance boost worldwide. It blends business needs with quality living, links East and West, and drives Dubai’s economy forward. DIFC Zabeel District cements the city’s lead in trade, investment, and innovation.
