Almabani General Construction Company stands as a cornerstone of the construction industry in Saudi Arabia. Founded in 1972, it has grown into a leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, known for delivering complex infrastructure and aviation projects. With over five decades of experience, Almabani shapes Saudi Arabia’s modern landscape through innovation and quality. Its recent work, including the completion of the Riyadh Metro in January 2025, highlights its pivotal role in the nation’s development.
History and Founding
Sheikh Kamal Adham, a respected advisor to two Saudi kings and a prominent businessman, founded Almabani in October 1972 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Starting with a modest capital of SR500,000, the company seized opportunities during the 1970s oil boom, securing contracts for high-rise towers, roads, and airports. These projects established Almabani’s reputation for reliability and expertise.
The company expanded regionally, contributing to Lebanon’s post-civil war reconstruction and Oman’s border delineation projects. By 2010, its capital grew to SR30 million, reflecting its growth into one of Saudi Arabia’s top contractors. Almabani’s ability to handle diverse, large-scale projects has made it a trusted name in the industry.
Mr. Joseph Daher leads Almabani as its Chief Executive Officer. His strategic vision aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, focusing on innovation and sustainability. Recognized as the 5th-ranked leader in Construction Week’s Power 150 list, Daher drives Almabani’s success in mega-projects, ensuring the company meets modern construction demands while maintaining high standards.
Recent Projects
Almabani’s recent projects demonstrate its expertise in transformative infrastructure. In January 2025, the company played a key role in completing the Riyadh Metro’s Blue Line (Line 1) and Red Line (Line 2) as part of the BACS consortium, alongside Bechtel, Consolidated Contractors Company, and Siemens. Spanning 63 kilometers with 40 stations, the metro connects Riyadh’s key areas, supporting up to 3.6 million daily passengers. This project advances Saudi Arabia’s goal to increase public transport use from 2% to 18% by 2030.
Additionally, Almabani contributes to the Red Sea International Airport, a $237.2 million project under the Red Sea Development Company. Expected to serve one million visitors annually by 2030, it supports Saudi Arabia’s tourism ambitions. These projects highlight Almabani’s capability to deliver sustainable, high-impact infrastructure.
Almabani General Construction Company, founded by Sheikh Kamal Adham and led by Joseph Daher, continues to shape Saudi Arabia’s future. The completion of the Riyadh Metro in January 2025 underscores its expertise in mega-projects.
